Gnome Fair – Saturday, December 5th – 10 – 3

December 5, 2020

OUTDOOR MAGIC FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

Gnome Making, Hide and Seek –  Pick-up a gnome kit at the Northern Lights School (140 Pento Rd.) any school day from 3-5 and make a simple gnome.  Gnome Kits are $12. A gnome that you made from one of our kits gets you in the door!   The kit has all the supplies and instructions.     Bring it to the Fair and hide it in our magical forest for other children to find.  Now hunt for a gnome someone else has hidden for you to take home!  What happens if you didn’t make a gnome?   We’ll have extras for you to hide and hunt.
Woodland Spiral Walk –  Enter the forested spiral to a magical pond with gems waiting to be picked up and thrown back in with a wish.
Visit the Good Witch next door to the Finnish Kitchen – She has a cookie for you!
Finnish Kitchen Treats – Coffee, herbal tea and hot cider can be enjoyed along with a piece of Finnish Pulla bread or delicious cookie.  Stand around the fire and enjoy!
Window Star – Create a simple star made from coloured wax paper.  This activity is inside the school and a mask is required.  Limited numbers at a time.
Gnome Hat –  Sew a simple running stitch up a triangular piece of cotton knit to make a gnome hat!   This activity is inside the school and a mask is required.  Limited numbers at a time.
Birch Bark Gnome –  Paint a face on a piece of birch bark and take home your standing gnome.  Outdoor activity.
Forest Therapy Walk  – Join a Forest Therapy walk in the beautiful Boreal Forest that surrounds Tapiola and Northern Lights School.  Forest Therapy is a meditative experience intended to deepen our connection with other than the human world.  There is growing evidence that time spent in green spaces and forests, contributes to physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.  The walk will begin at 1pm and last approximately 2 hours.  Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, including several layers, hat, mitts, and warm, comfortable boots.  Participation will be limited to the first 12 interested people who meet at the schoolhouse at 1pm to start our journey.  There will be more Forest Therapy walks offered at Tapiola during the Winter.
Skiing and Snowshoeing –  Bring your skiis or snowshoes and enjoy the 1km. loop.  Or set out on Tapiola trails of 2 & 3.5 km. loops.  Tapiola ski trails are one of T-Bay’s gems!
Entrance Fee:  $12 for children.  Adults free.  A gnome Kit gnome is also your entrance fee.    Book at eventbrite  –   https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/northern-lights-gnome-fair-tickets-127607456337
