Get Out and Play After School Care

Get Out and Play is an after school program providing a space for fun, play and connection with nature, other children and with oneself.  

–The program is offered at our school campus at Redwood Church, close to Chapples Park. The school is on a large campus with walking trails, a floodplain and hills for tobogganing and playing. The children will have time and the freedom to explore and be active balanced by boundaries and guidelines. The program also provides a time to play board games, read and talk with friends and ‘chill out’.

The program is offered by Northern Lights School, a not-for-profit Waldorf-inspired independent school. The school runs a kindergarten to Grade Six. The After Care program is unlicensed.

The Program

Kindergarten to Grade 6 children. Outside time from 3:30-4:15 followed by an indoor snack then a choice of indoor or outdoor activities.

Care is offered Monday to Friday throughout the school year from 3:15 – 5:00 pm. The After Care will not be open on the NLS Professional Development Days, during teachers’ strikes or under the restrictions of the Ministry of Health.

Admissions

Application for After Care is done online. See below.  Application is for a one time frame. Adjustments can be made to the child’s After Care throughout the year with prior notice. There is a $100 Application fee that is credited toward your fees.

Once the application has been received, a tour of the program site can be arranged to familiarize oneself with the staff, the location/room and our policies. Registration and acceptance into the program is completed when a signed contract is received and payment is made for the first month.

Fees and Payment

After School Care is paid for monthly, at the first of each school month, by e-transfer to [email protected]

3:15 – 5:00 – 5 days a week – $350 per month, 4 days week – $300 month, 3 days a week – $250 per month, 2 days per week – $165 per month, 1 day a week – $90 per month. Drop-In – $25.00.

Illness and Absence

Please call to let us know if your child will not attend for any reason, including illness. Staff will not be waiting unnecessarily for your child’s arrival. Please text or call 807-707-4311.  There is no reduction in fees for absences as the spot is being held for your child.
